We assert that everyone should have an opportunity to have a balanced life that includes meaningful employment. This includes adults and young adults with developmental disabilities. At Opportunity Services we believe that community based employment increases self-sufficiency; provides an improved sense of self-worth; allows individuals to make decisions to purchase what is necessary to sustain their quality of life; and is a major branch of one’s social and support network.

For over 35 years Opportunity Services has been a leading advocate of independent placement verses sheltered work environments and institutionalized living. In the early 1980’s, Opportunity Services became the pioneer in conversion. This is groundbreaking in that we converted the clients from the historic institutional and Sheltered Workshop environments and placed 99.9% of these clients into community employment, which supports our Vision and Mission Statements:
